Our School

Fyvie School is situated in the Aberdeenshire village of Fyvie and serves the catchment area of Fyvie and its surrounding rural area. Several pupils who live outwith the catchment area also attend the school. Fyvie School is part of the Turriff Cluster of Schools. The school is non-denominational, teaches both boys and girls and does not teach by way of Gaelic Medium.

Fyvie School provides education for children from ante-preschool nursery to P7. We are also a provider for 2-year-olds that are entitled to a nursery space.

Fyvie School is led by the Head Teacher and supported by an Administrator/Admin Support, a Janitor, the Kitchen Team and School Cleaners.

The School Team consists of 8 teachers working across 6 classes from P1 to P7. In addition, further teachers provide Non-Class Contact, Management Relief, and Probationer Relief. Children are supported by a team of 4 full time Pupil Support Assistants. Additional Support for Learning is provided by 2 Cluster based ASL teachers and we also benefit from Intervention Prevention Teacher support when
required.

The Nursery Team is led by a part time Early Years Senior Practitioner, a full time Early Years Lead Practitioner and a team of Early Years Practitioners.

The school building has a dedicated Nursery with an enclosed outside area, 7 classrooms, a Gym Hall with stage, a Dining Hall with kitchen on site, a Library, a Music Room, Pupil Support Rooms, and a Local Heritage Room. Other facilities include extensive school grounds with a playground, field, and adventure playground. We also have a vegetable garden where we grow our own produce.

Fyvie is a community school and the links with the community are a valued part of school life. Clubs run during the week and the school building is used for a variety of community evening activities for children and adult groups.

Creating an ethos of achievement is central to what we do and we work hard to establish a happy environment in which all our pupils, staff and members of our community are able to fulfil their potential.

Through Pupil Voice Groups, the pupils are involved in the work of the school and its improvement. Pupils are represented through House Captains, Pupil Council Reps, an Eco Committee, a Fairtrade Group, Rotakids and a Rights Respecting Schools Group.

Pupils, staff, parents and community members are given opportunities to be included in the work of the school in a variety of contexts. Fyvie School has an active Parent Council and encourages the involvement of parents in the work of the school.

Devolved budgets are managed in accordance with authority guidelines to support planned improvements in the school.
